A blinding flash lit up the sky, followed by a deafening crash. Draven rushed to the source of the impact and froze in disbelief—a small spaceship lay smoldering in his lawn. The craft pulsed with blue energy, its sleek silver frame dented from the fall. A strange hum echoed from within.
As he approached, a robotic voice crackled, “Power failure… missing batteries… must repair.” Draven’s heart raced. Somewhere around the yard, the missing batteries had scattered upon impact. Without them, the ship would never fly again.
