In the misty bamboo groves of Mount Emei, China, a gentle panda named Zhenzai lived in quiet solitude. Her black-and-white fur shimmered under morning light, and birds often sang from her back as she wandered the forest paths. Zhenzai had once been the fastest climber in the mountains. Elders whispered of how she saved a trapped leopard cub during a thunderstorm. But now, age slowed her steps and hunger weakened her strength.
One morning, the forest remained silent. Zhenzai could not rise. Her belly growled, but the bamboo shoots she loved had grown far from her den. Her strength failed. Her paws trembled.
The red fox Tomo, her oldest friend, sent a call through the wind. You heard it. Only you can help.
