In the Camargue wetlands of southern France, Bastien Morel, a wildlife biologist, spent his days protecting rare bird species. While inspecting the marshes one misty morning, he heard a faint, distressed quack. He followed the sound and found a wounded mallard duck struggling near the reeds.
The duck’s wing drooped, and its eyes flickered with exhaustion. Bastien knew it wouldn’t survive long without help. He reached for his field kit but realized his medical supplies were missing—likely left behind at his research station.
He scanned the area. Perhaps a forgotten first-aid kit in an abandoned fisherman’s hut, or medicinal herbs growing nearby, could help. Time was running out, and predators lurked in the marshes. He needed to act fast.
