At the edge of Tivoli Park in Copenhagen, a clown named Tiberius tumbled through his routine with joy. Crowds cheered every night. Born in a traveling troupe near Lake Como, Tiberius learned to juggle before he could write. His parents performed tightrope acts under the stars.
He never broke character—not even offstage. Painted smile, oversized shoes, wild orange wig. People called him “the Laughsmith.” But today, laughter faded. While practicing before the matinee, he wandered into a striped red tent. The flap dropped shut behind him. Locks clicked. Lights dimmed.
Tiberius chuckled. “Another trick, eh?” But no one answered. Only dusty props and eerie silence filled the tent. A toy monkey clapped its cymbals in the corner. Its rhythm hinted at something hidden.
