The Mistywood Rainforest was home to many rare creatures, but none were as magnificent as the Austen’s brown hornbill. With its striking chestnut-colored feathers, curved ivory beak, and powerful wings, it was a sight to behold. Every year, during the Great Gathering Season, flocks of birds traveled across the jungle to meet at the Sacred Canopy, where they sang, danced, and mated.
But this year, one of these majestic birds was missing.
Captured by a greedy hunter, it had been locked inside a wooden cage, waiting to be sold to the highest bidder.
And there was only one person who could save it—Liam Carter, the jungle guardian.
Liam wasn’t just an ordinary traveler. Born and raised in the heart of the jungle, he had spent his entire life protecting its creatures. Taught by the indigenous elders, he knew the language of the birds, the paths of the rivers, and the secrets of the trees.
So when he heard the desperate calls of the hornbill’s mate, he knew something was terribly wrong.
He followed the distressed bird through the thick jungle until he reached a clearing near the riverbank.
There, hidden under a makeshift shelter, was a wooden cage—and inside it, the trapped hornbill.
Beside the cage, a hunter’s campfire burned, but the captor was nowhere to be seen.
Liam had to act fast.
