In the heart of Florence, Italy, a quiet historian named Octavian Merlo lived for art. He spent years studying Renaissance masterpieces and traveled the world visiting rare collections. One spring afternoon, Octavian received an invitation to a private art exhibition inside the Palazzo Vecchio, an ancient palace that opened only once a year for elite scholars.
Eager to witness never-before-seen sketches by Botticelli, Octavian entered the palace alone. He admired each piece, losing track of time. When the exhibit closed, the lights flickered, and he realized something was wrong. The grand doors had locked behind him.
